Tourism Secretary-Designee Sayers to speak in Burnett County February 3
Tourism is one of Burnett County’s mainstay sources of revenue. “Even in our toughest year, the power of tourism as a major economic driver was clear in communities and counties across the state,” says Department of Tourism Regional Specialist Julie Fox.
Fox will introduce Department of Tourism Secretary-designee Anne Sayers who will address this and other tourism topics when she speaks at the Burnett County Tourism Coalition’s (BCTC) annual meeting Thursday, February 3, 12-1 p.m. at Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park on County Road U in Danbury.
“In 2020, Burnett County saw $20.9 million in direct visitor spending and $32.4 million in total business sales,” reported Fox. “The tourism industry supported 322 jobs while visitor spending contributed $2.6 million to the county in state and local taxes.”
Lunch and the BCTC business meeting follow the Secretary-designee’s noon presentation. The event is open to anyone who is interested in supporting tourism-related activities in Burnett County. Nominations for potential board members are open and may be submitted in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org or taken from the floor during the meeting.
There is no charge for lunch, however reservations are required. Email RSVP to email@example.com by January 31 or call 218.491.0961.
