Event Details

Registration at 5:30 pm, Program at 6:00 pm

Socialize with other nature enthusiasts over snacks and beverages, and enjoy an engaging presentation from a regional expert in a happy-hour atmosphere. Each Birds and Beer program features a different presenter at a different location, so you’re sure to learn something new each time!

This month’s presenter is Ryan Magana, ecologist and representative for the Natural Heritage Conservation Program. He will be presenting on osprey. With their spectacular dives, piercing vocalizations and ability to adapt in a human-dominated environment, osprey are one of the most recognizable large raptors of North America’s fauna. Having rebounded from serious population declines in the 20th Century, osprey are now found nesting in over 55 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties and their numbers continue to climb. On this night, we will discuss osprey ecology and some of the research that surrounds this charismatic, attention-grabbing “fish eagle.”

Program Fee: $10/person if ticket purchased in advance, $15/person at the door.
