Burnett County Tourism Coalition Fall Gathering
Deadline to buy tickets is October 18th
Chef, author, and columnist Peter H. Kwong headlines the Burnett County Tourism Coalition's "Fall Gathering" set for Tuesday, October 29, 5 to 9 p.m. at the St. Croix Casino Event Center in Danbury.
"This year's theme is 'Harvest," says BCTC President Chuck Anderson. "And we are certainly grateful for the bounty of visitors and revenue during the past year. We invite Burnett County business owners and the public to join us for an evening of great food, humor, music and prizes."
The evening includes the BCTC annual board of directors report, an update from Travel Wisconsin, and nominations for new board members. "We are looking for individuals who will become passionate about the BCTC mission of 'Growing Tourism in Burnett County" and who are willing to share their time and talents to help stage fund-raising events, as well asprovide input and fresh ideas about promoting Burnett County as a year-round destination," says marketing consultant Emily Gall.
Kwong won't be demonstrating his culinary prowess, though that is legendary. However, he will share his own unique perspective about what it means to live in the Wisconsin north woods, having moved here from Milwaukee four years ago.
How does that relate to tourism? In a July 3 column published in the Inter-County Leader, Kwong waxed poetic about the Polk County Tourism Information Center and the dedication of its staff. He wrote about being "flabbergasted about how tourism matters to Wisconsin." His insights are both humorous and instructive.
In addition to Kwong, the ticket price of $45 per person includes a four course buffet dinner, musical entertainment by the Indianhead Barbershop Quartet, "Chariot," entry into a drawing for $1,000 cash, and opportunities to win gift baskets from local businesses and other prizes.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are available at the following locations: The Lodge at Crooked Lake Tourism Office, Siren; The 10th Hole, Danbury; North of Eight Design and Marketing located at the Outpost Mall on St. Hwys 35/70.
