SUMMARY:Jordan Buck Day 2026
DESCRIPTION:On November 20\, 1914\, Jim Jordan shot a large buck in Danbury\, WI. It was given to a taxidermist to create a mount\, the taxidermist moved without notifying Jordan. It was not seen a gain until 1959\, when his niece’s husband happened to purchase the mount at a garage sale for $2. The mount was declared a world record by the Boone and Crockett Club\, and Jim Jordan made the claim that this mount was in fact the long lost buck he had shot back in 1914. After a story was published in the Star Tribune\, by outdoor writer Ron Schara\, telling the story account of jim Jordan\, the Boone and Crocket club lanched an offfical investigation to determine\, once and for all\, who shot the trophy buck that was on the mount. Through much discovery and research\, the records committee voted to officially recognize that the buck was in fact taken along the Yellow River in Wisconsin in November of 1914\, and that indeed\, Jim Jordan was the hunter. \nThis famous buck is celebrated in Danbury\, WI at the end of September every year with a parade\, activities for kids\, food vendors\, arts and crafts\, pinball tournament\, live music as well as a horse and buggy ride to the site of the harvest. Several thousand people attend and enjoy this great festival!
