The Burnett Dairy – Happy National Cheese Lover’s Day!

Burnett Dairy

I think one of the coolest things about living in Wisconsin is having such easy access to such a wide variety of cheeses. Being from Texas, we have dairies and co-ops; but nothing compares to the Burnett Dairy right in the heart of Burnett County. I’ll never forget my very first trip to Wisconsin (about 5 years ago); my friend was adamant about us going to the dairy and getting cheese curds, cheese whips, and ice cream. Little did I know, that I was going to fall in love with the cheese, the dairy, and this county here in the great state of Wisconsin.

The Burnett Dairy offers all kinds of goodies that you really can’t get anywhere else. With over 200 individual dairies operating within the co-op, there is no shortage of quality cheese to be enjoyed across WI and the United States. One of the things I love the most is that I can mail their award-winning cheese back home to my family and friends in Texas! My family and I enjoyed a fun homemade cheese tray on Christmas Eve with six different cheeses that I had mailed right before Christmas. They were so impressed that everybody kept asking where the cheese came from!

Burnett Dairy

Dating back to the 1890s, the Burnett Dairy started as the Branstad and Wood River creameries. In the 1960s, the two merged to become one profitable location in Alpha, WI (named after its Alpha De Laval cream separator). Today, the farmer-owned dairy produces more than just local dairy products. It also provides a bistro inside the store with great food options, agronomy services, fuels, grain, feed, animal health and nutrition services, and a general store with farm supplies.

Some of their agronomy products and services include crop protection, adjuvants, dry fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, application, seed, seed treatments and inoculants, business-decision support, expert scouting and recommendations, and precision agriculture. They are dedicated to helping farmers succeed and produce maximum yields.

When it comes to your livestock, the dairy can assist in more ways than one with expert advice on raising your cattle to ensure that your herd is healthy and profitable. They offer bulk on-farm delivery, liquid on-farm delivery, bag route, routine farm calls, feed analysis, quality assurance, custom blend programs, and a wide variety of products to grow your herd.
