Cool, comfortable and breathtakingly beautiful, the fall in Burnett County is not to be missed. With the kids back in school, quick weekend getaways are well spent at our farmers’ markets, fruit farms or simply navigating our Rustic Roads and backroads while admiring the vibrant leaves. Better yet, take a trek to the northern reaches of Burnett County to enjoy a canoe trip down the wild Namekagon River, surrounded by the fall foliage. Navigate the currents and the oxbows in one of the most scenic paddles in the region. While on the river, be sure to cast a line in for some excellent fishing.

Fall is the perfect time to check out a winery or stay at a cozy bed and breakfast, do some antique shopping and grab a warm latte at the local coffee shop. Join the local bike club on their scheduled rides down secluded country roads. Fall brings with it some excellent local events, including Grantoberfest, Siren’s Harvestfest, and Crex Meadow’s Fall Wildlife Festival.

For folks looking for a faster-paced experience, enjoy 50 miles of summer trails, approximately 80 miles of frozen ground ATV/UTV trails (and 120 miles of winter usage ATV/UTV trails), Burnett County is a great place for motor sport enthusiasts.

In addition, our trails are connected to Douglas and Washburn Counties in Wisconsin, as well as Pine County in Minnesota. As one part of an incredibly extensive regional trail system, we know you’ll have a blast exploring all day long.

The true beauty of Burnett County lies on back roads and trail heads. There is no better way to experience the great outdoors than biking or hiking down a secluded path. No matter the season, our trails do not disappoint.

For the silent sport enthusiast, our seven scenic trails offer something for every skill level. In the warmer months, try hiking the Hay Creek Trail in Grantsburg and enjoy the observation platform where you’ll see all types of wildlife.

HUNTING & FISHING

You’ll find some of the best hunting in Burnett County. With over 150,000 acres of public land, 14 rivers and streams and over 500 named lakes, this is a destination for visitors with a passion for the great outdoors.  With storied history, Burnett County is home to the world-famous, record-breaking Jordan Buck, the Wisconsin record black bear, and the state record Hook and Line sturgeon.
