Meet Your Team

The Team at Burnett County Tourism Coalition (BCTC) markets and promotes tourism activities in Burnett County.  Though this is its mission, the Coalition has adopted a sustainable or responsible approach to this effort. This means while, yes, the Coalition invites people to visit the county, we also strive to protect the county’s natural resources and bring awareness to the things that our residents cherish – the quiet, the support of the community, and the respect of neighbors and neighborhoods.

Growing tourism goes hand in hand with providing the infrastructure to support that visiting population.  How do you manage traffic?  How does one ease the pressure on emergency services?  How can visitors become a supportive asset to the community?  These are all questions which cannot be ignored when facing the impacts of tourism.

BCTC promotes the area through this webpage, our Facebook, and on Instagram.  The organization contributes to the Burnett County Visitor Guide which highlights community events, businesses, and organizations.  We also distribute a variety of maps, brochures, and information from trail and Chamber organizations when requested.

To help protect the area’s natural resources, the Coalition proactively produces a monthly stewardship bulletin.  These bulletins target topics to draw attention to simple ways both residents and visitors can help preserve unique aspects of the county.  By bringing focus to such topics as noise on the lake, the trespass of light, and staying on the trail, the Coalition provides tips to help visitors be good neighbors.

The BCTC is governed by a Board of Directors, elected in February at its annual meeting for two-year terms, and employs four part-time staff: a director, a marketing coordinator, a project coordinator, and a student intern.
