Each year thousands of visitors gather at the Burnett County Airport for the annual Gandy Dancer Fly In. The 2018 event attracted a record-breaking crowd of 3,500 people from all over. This year the festivities take place on July 20th (schedule of events below).
The day starts off with a homemade wild rice pancake breakfast served by the Siren Community Ag Association and local high school & college students. The students and association members volunteer their time and efforts to put on this breakfast to raise money for yearly scholarships. Students can apply each year that they are in college as long as they complete a number of community service hours for the association through various forms of volunteer work.
Next up is the annual 5K run/walk. The run starts at 7:30am at the Burnett County Airport and follows the Gandy Dancer Trail with the finish line being back at the airport. Registration prior to race day is $25. Day of registration is $30. Kids 12 and under are $10.
After you’ve filled your stomach and got your cardio in for the day, kick back and relax while enjoying the aerobatic show at Noon. There will also be classic cars, emergency vehicles and a variety of aircrafts parked on displayed throughout the day, as well!
Still hungry? There will be multiple foods venders there to fill your belly for lunch. After the show there will be airplane & helicopter rides along with additional activities to keep you entertained throughout the afternoon.
