June Dairy Month

Happy Dairy Month, Burnett County!

What better way to kick off a northwoods Wisconsin summer than by celebrating National Dairy Month? The tradition started in 1937 as National Milk Month to encourage folks to drink more milk, but over time it developed into a way to show appreciation for the entire dairy industry as a whole. June is a great time of year to give thanks for the many different dairy products that we consume on a daily basis. From an ice cold glass of milk to fresh cheese curds and an ice cream cone from The Burnett Dairy, we are extremely lucky to live in a place where we have access to such a wide variety of high quality and locally produced dairy products.

Dairy products are rich with nutrients and an important part of our daily diet. Just a single glass of milk contains nine essential nutrients that help keep you healthy and fight off things like osteoporosis, high blood pressure and can even help to defend your body from certain cancers. For these reasons (and many more) we should celebrate the dairy industry all year long.

Looking for ways to show appreciation? Burnett County has some pretty exciting family-friendly events coming up that help shine a positive light on the dairy industry.
